re:fine to deliver the Volvo Ocean Race to broadcasters

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

blog_volvoThis month re:fine has managed content from the astonishing Volvo Ocean Race yachting event, including library storage of the Volvo Ocean Race’s 8000 tape library and digitization. In addition, re:fine will also help service all additional tape and digital requirements from programme creation to clips for broadcasters, making files available from re:fine’s digital storage.

Pioneered in the Netherlands in the 17th century, competitive yachting emerged as a competitive sporting event in the 19th century, when sailors began racing from continent to continent. Since then, yachting has gained in popularity, ultimately becoming the ultimate ocean challenge and world race one of the world’s most exciting sports.  The Volvo Ocean Race is an exceptional sailing experience, celebrating the spirit of the first commercial sailors on dangerous trade routes.

The first edition was inspired by two famous sailors of the last century, Sir Francis Chichester and Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. It quickly became one of the most prestigious competitive yachting events in 1973 with the inaugural Whitbread Round the World Race, the longest, most demanding yachting contest to date.  In the 2001-2002 races, the event was re-branded as the Volvo Ocean Race, officially becoming the “Everest of Sailing” in terms of its challenge and its very competitive and diverse international crews. Each team has 11 crew members who will endure extreme conditions, no fresh food, and temperature variations from -5C to +40C. It is one of the most challenging global yachting races and one of the most demanding team competitions in the world.

The recipes that we want to try include his best, most succulent turkey with delicious gravy and stuffing and his perfect ‘crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside’ roast spuds!

In ‘Jamie Cooks Christmas’ the Chef is joined by friend and former mentor Gennaro Contaldo, who brought his unique European influence to the proceedings. Jamie showed how to transform lowly left-overs into some truly irresistible creations that cut through that Boxing Day hangover and feed friends and family throughout the festive period.
