Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

blog_aug11_bbcpromsThe BBC Proms season is currently undergoing international broadcast quality control (QAR) at re:fine.

For  newbies the BBC Proms is an annual orchestral music festival, held in London at the Royal Albert Hall between 15th July and 10th September. Sir Henry Wood started the promenade concerts in 117 years ago in 1895 with a remit to present the widest possible range of music, performed to the highest standards, to large audiences.

The BBC became involved with the concerts in the late twenties and has continued the annual proms concerts ever since. The festival now includes over 70 main Prom concerts every year, ever widening the range of symphonic and operatic music presented.

The BBC Proms continues to welcome leading international performers whilst showcasing the best of the British music scene, including the BBC’s own orchestras and choirs.

Inside the Human Body takes audiences deep inside the human body and under the skin, showing the smallest cell, the blood vessels and the tiniest cluster of cilia. The program showcases the incredibly complex human physiology, using spectacular photography to illustrate human behaviour in slow motion, revealing elements of our bodies that were previously completely unknown.

QAR – Psychoville

Monday, January 24th, 2011

psychoville_Jan11_blogThis month we’ve  been treated to a preview of the new series of Psychoville.   The show came to re:fine for a full audio and visual QC, to ensure that the series meets the BBC’s exacting standards prior to the broadcast in the spring.

The series is written by creators and stars of the The League of Gentlemen Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton.

The award winning first series of this dark character comedy saw the main characters connected by a mysterious blackmailer who has sent them a letter each with the message ‘I know what you did’.

The complicated and often bizarre past lives of the characters are revealed as the series goes on, linking the characters to the murder of the blackmailer’s mother.

We loved the first series, and with our QAR operators staying tight lipped about the plot of the new series we have one more reason to look forward to the spring!
